"Harmony Music+Business Conference 2009 "
It's not enough to be gifted, you have to not only practice, but according to Proverbs 2:1-6, you must posess wisdom and knowledge. At the 2009 Harmony Music+Business Conference, wisdom and knowledge were in full supply, and the call was for those in attendance to "live on purpose."
Tyscot Records along with Gospel Excellence Ministries truly operated in the spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and excellence. From start to finish this conference was a two-day power packed event with the perfect blend of business and ministry. It truly was a time to come together in "Harmony" and to learn and absorb the wealth of information that was in the building. Presenters and attenders included Indianapolis' own Liz "Faith" Dixson, Al "The Bishop" Hobbs, "First Lady" Khris Raye, and Pastor A. Thomas Hill. Internationally known movers and shakers on hand included EMI Gospel Vice President & General Manager, Larry Blackwell; James "Jazzy" Jordan of Verity Gospel Music Group; and Executive Vice President, Alvin Williams, of the Gospel Music Channel. I mean the wealthy meter was off the chart! Tyscot's own Deitrick ans Damita Haddon; Joann Rosario Condrey; Tracy Williamson from TRE7.INC Artist Development; Veda Brown, founder of Black Gospel Promo; and Sheilah Belle, founder of The Belle Report, were also in attendance at the 2009 Harmony Conference.
There were workshops like "Mentoring & Developing Musicians," "Music as a Career," and the workshop that got everybody involved (even down to the final second before we concluded) "Performance vs. Ministry." Wow, what an awesome time. For all the worshippers in attendance, we got to be a part of an anointed, electrifing move of God at the Live Recording of "My Worship Experience." The presence of the Lord was in the midst of His people.
To conclude this awesome conference, we all came together to salute some of Indianapolis' own homegrown artists, radio personalities, and choirs at the 11th Annual GEM Awards. This was a Red Carpet event; a time to break out the tuxedo, sequins, and finest fashions to celebrate. Our very own Bishop Leonard Scott won the "Amabassador of The Arts" award, "Male Vocalist of the Year" went to Mr. Brian Reeves, and "Radio Announcer of the Year" went to Liz "Faith" Dixson.
This was definitely a conference you don't want to miss, so make sure you register for next year. I would like to give a special thank you to Bishop Leonard Scott and Lady Christine Scott (Conference Hosts), Bryant & Ta'Sha Scott (Conference Co-Hosts), Melanie Scott (COO & Conference Chair), Lynna Scott, (Conference Vice Chair), and the whole GEM board & committee members that made this Conference something to remember. From the hospitality to the excellence in execution, this was an awesome event for the people of God to get wisdom and knowledge, so that they will be able to fulfill the destiny and purpose that God has called each and everyone of us to.
